Regulators and lawmakers set clocks, for themselves and for you. Most people find out a deadline mattered only after it has passed. This is a dated, sourced calendar of the ones that actually touch your money, your crypto, and your AI use, and we note whether they get hit. No hype. Just the clock, and the receipt.

Next 60 days
- Jul 22, 2026 โ EU AI transparency code, signatory list. Companies that choose to sign the EUโs voluntary AI-content-labeling code appear on the first public list. Tells you who is committing to label AI content and who is ducking it.
- Jul 31, 2026 โ FTC AI-accuracy, comments close. Public comment ends on the FTCโs proposed policy treating distorted or undisclosed AI outputs as a Section 5 issue. Proposed, not yet law.
- Aug 1, 2026 โ California data-broker deletion goes enforceable. 600-plus registered data brokers must start honoring deletion requests through the DROP platform. $200 per consumer per day, no cure window. Full breakdown here.
- Aug 2, 2026 โ AI transparency law binds, two continents. EU AI Act Article 50 and California SB 942 both take effect: AI-content disclosure and watermarking duties, EU fines up to 15 million euros or 3% of worldwide turnover. The EU did not delay this part. Full breakdown here.
On the horizon
- Sep 15, 2026 โ Cloudflare default bot-blocking. New domains on Cloudflare block AI training and agent bots by default on ad-supported pages. Matters if you want AI engines to keep finding and citing your site. Full breakdown here.
- Dec 2, 2026 โ EU pre-market watermarking + nudifier ban. Generative systems face watermarking requirements; AI “nudifier” apps are prohibited.
- Jan 18, 2027 โ GENIUS Act hard effective date. The federal stablecoin law takes effect even though regulators missed their July 2026 deadline to finish the rules. Why the miss matters.
- Early 2027 โ first IRS Form 1099-DA issued. The new crypto tax form covering 2026 transactions starts landing. Your form may show what you sold for, not what you paid.
- ~2028 โ USDT US-platform countdown. Under the GENIUS Act, non-compliant stablecoins face a roughly two-year runway to removal from US platforms. A countdown, not a switch.
How to read this page
A deadline being on the calendar is not a prediction that the sky falls that day. Some of these are duties that bind, some are comment windows, some are countdowns with years of runway. We label which is which, we date every one, and when a regulator misses its own clock, we say so, because someone should keep that receipt. This page updates as dates land.
